As always, Mercedes-Benz and Smart parent-company Daimler AG brings good news with sales in the U.S. reaching 21,088 for the month of September this year. Compared to last year, this means an 18.5 percent increase, making September its best month so far in terms of units sold, putting the year-to-date figures ahead of last year’s numbers by 22 percent. In fact, September 2010 is the MBUSA’s 2nd best September on record, with 19,862 passenger cars, light trucks and 804 Sprinters sold.

Sales of the company’s higher end models are equally experiencing growth, led by the 9th generation E-Class whose sales for September reached 5,608 units, beating last year’s by a whopping 47.1%. Year-to-date total for the E-Class? 44,730, growing 67.3% from last year’s figures. The C-Class, on the other hand, follows closely with 5,196 units sold. While the M-Class SUV makes the top three list by selling 2,780 units for September.

MBUSA’s flagship model, the S-Class, is also up on the sales chart, growing 55.2% from last year, while the GL-Class SUV is also up more than half with 52.6%. The SLS AMG, meanwhile, has sold 35 units this month, putting its year-to-date tally at 356 units.

Overall? It’s a very September for both Mercedes-Benz and Smart in the U.S.
