New xenon burners by Osram

December is going to be a lot brighter thanks to the company’s latest headlamp innovations. Mercedes-Benz stands firm to their belief that the closer you get to producing headlamp light output that’s similar to daylight, the more safer your clients are as well as all motorists in general. And that’s why beginning December, both the E-Class and S-Class ranges will feature brand new xenon burners courtesy of Osram.

These burners feature a color temperature that’s been spiked up by 20 percent. With a power output of 5,000 Kelvin, the new Osram xenons will jump one giant leap towards imitating broad daylight. Still, 5,000 Kelvin is still within a human being’s visual acuity, while at the same time signaling the brain that the eyes are in fact seeing brighter light. The positive benefit of this is the reduction of optical fatigue felt by the driver.

And when a driver sees better, he or she is more relaxed and better able to focus on the road. Safety wise, this is a big improvement to current headlamp technologies, despite the average 20 percent of journeys happening under the dark of night. Figuratively speaking, that’s enough time for around 40 percent of all road accidents to happen in general.

Thanks to almost 230,000 voters from all over the world who cast their choice for Europe’s most popular car, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles were chosen in an online survey by Europe’s biggest automobile marketplace on the Internet, none other than AutoScout24. So far, the web company has done nine surveys with great response from their avid visitors.

So which car came up on top as Europe’s most favorite car? It’s unanimous—the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super car is without any contention the most adored and wished for European car in the market today, being voted out of almost 1.8 million candidates.

Cutting edge quality German engineering can only be credited partially for such an honor. It’s the blood, sweat and tears that this premium car company has shed over the decades to garner such a loyal following. Not to mention the history that surrounds the SLS AMG, which brings you back to the 1950′s when an iconic sports car was made legendary in the form of the original 300 SL Gullwing.

And so, with its rich heritage and technological prowess, the SLS AMG won sans rival in all three categories. This includes the super sports car and coupe categories.

Celebrating victory with the SLS AMG are the R-Class winning in the van and compact van categories, the C-Class in the medium-size category, the E-Class in the intermediate category, and the E-Class Cabrio in the cabriolet category.

Taken while doing its test drives in Germany with its roof down. With regards to its performance, the convertible should be a little short in contrast to the old model, due to few additional kilos in the roof’s mechanism and body strengthening. Under the new SLS’ hood would be a similar 564bhp 6.2 litre V8 engine similar to the older model.

The vehicle is expected to go from 0-62 mph at around four seconds. The vehicle boasts of a fabric hood that is electrically operated, comparable to the material and make of the E-Class convertible’s roof. The most significant distinction between the SLS and the new drop-top model is the exclusion of the original vehicle’s gullwing doors

The pricetag is expected to be a bit higher, having at least 10 percent mark-up in contrast to the regular coupe, which should put it to a little over £170,000. According to sources, the SLS Roadster is likely to be presented to the public in the late summer of 2011, through the Frankfurt Motor Show.
