What is it about the Pagani Zonda R that makes it so special? Is it the Mercedes-Benz sourced engine? Or is it the sound that over 700 horsepower makes with its engine’s 12 cylinders? Well, both are quite accurate answers for most of the people who have driven it, but there’s one thing about the Zonda R that really stands out—and it’s written on its doors—”6:47 Nurburgring”.
Yes, people. The Pagani Zonda R lapped the Green Hell in less than 7 minutes, enough speed to beat the Ferrari 599XX around the infamous ‘Ring. The time of 6 minutes and 47 not only beats the 599XX but literally every other car, both production and track-only, that dared to set foot on the ‘Ring. So yes, the Pagani Zonda R is a really fast car. And it has agility to boot. How else do you think it was able to lap the ‘Ring in such short time? There’s only so much that human ability can do. And it takes a lot of ability to harness the limit of a machine’s potential.
Well, enough talk. We’re privileged enough to have this video of the boys down at Autocar taking a test drive around an airfield on the Zonda R. It’s not really the smoothest kind of driving you’ll see, but that’s beside the point. The Pagani Zonda R is way up there with the rest of its supercar competitors. Enjoy the video.
