Mercedes Benz CLS took the design gurus by storm when it hit the markets four years ago. The concept of a four door coupe radicalized the coupe design language and created a niche market for itself. However, with competition catching up, CLS has been put under axe.
The old CLS was based on the bygone E- class platform. And now, since the new E-class has been launched globally, expect CLS to inherit everything from it. It is believed that the new CLS will share platform and chassis dynamics with the 2010 E-Class.
And since it’s an AMG, expect great fireworks under the bonnet too. It is rumored that the updated Mercedes-Benz CLS AMG will employ the new 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 to move the rubber. The engine develops between 405 and 426kW and is bound to make rivals in Munich and Ingolstadt sit up and take notice.
Late 2010 is touted to be the launch time of the new Mercedes-Benz CLS AMG. Exact pricing and full specifications is expected to be revealed closer to the official launch.
