Last week, we reported that production of the smart fortwo electric drive has begun in Hambach, France. In the first round, 1,000 vehicles will be given to customer in multiple cities across Europe and the U.S. for evaluation and to give feedback at how the electric drive preforms under normal everyday conditions.

We’ve received exclusive pictures of the smart fortwo ‘ed’ on the assembly line as well as a picture of the smart management team overseeing the production. As you might already know, the smart fortwo ‘ed’ will start regular producing in 2012, and will be sold through the smart sales network.
