BenzInsider visited the NAIAS

BenzInsider visited the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year. The mood was quite different from years past – much more somber. The majority of the free food and lavish drinks dished out to us media had vanished – exception being the Mercedes Benz display. Irregardless of the recession, Mercedes showed their true luxurious style displaying vehicles like the 2010 E-Class, SLR Stirling Moss and the Blue Zero Concept alongside dishes you might see on Top Chef.

Overall the show was big on “green” and minimial on flash. However we want to tip our fedora hat to the home town luxury car division; Cadillac! They skipped the superficial glitz but displayed some great looking vehicles; 2010 redesigned SRX, the CTS wagon and the Converj concept car.

  1. without question the SLR Stirling Moss was the silent hit of the show – magnificent – and at $1.4 million and sold out, obviously the economy isn’t that bad everywhere. sure, the Cadillacs looked good – but so what – the rest of GM’s lineup was uninspired – the Converj concept should be in production not the Volt – $40 grand for a Chevy – no way ( you think they would learn a lesson from the big hit the SSR was ! )
Honorable mention to Ford – the Taurus looked good – lousy interior, if you’re over 6′ – forget fitting in it – let alone a family of 5.
oh and Maserati had the best cappucino at the show and some good snacks as well.

  2. Excellent publish from specialist also it will probably be a great know how to me and thanks really significantly for posting this helpful data with us all.
