AMG, SL-Class

Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series
It was only a matter of time until someone realized it, so this shouldn’t really come to anyone with some sanity as a surprise. AMG chief, Volker Mornhinweg, has stated “The horsepower war is over.” He also told AutoCar “We are going to use other ways to extract better performance, including weight saving, engine optimization and alternative technologies.”

We’ve already been anticipating something like this, ever since we learned that Mercedes-Benz will be abandoning further development of V12 engines and focus on V8 twin-turbo engine, since they will be more compact and lighter, adding less weight to the car, producing similar if not better performance.
