The guys over at Automobile Magazine have managed to get a hold of the new Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series. Before taking it out for a test drive, they decidied to put it onto a dyno and see if Mercedes delivered what they promised.

On paper, Mercedes claimse the Black Series will do 670 hp and 738 lb-ft with the V12 twin-turbo monster. The Automobile Mag guys achieved 573 hp @ 5300 rpm and 682 lb-ft @ 3620 rpm in third gear. That’s wheel horsepower, remember. And the result is right where it should be given the engine’s rating of 651 hp @ 5400 rpm and 738 lb-ft @ 2200 – 4200 rpm.
