Mercedes-Benz has announced their plans for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show (6-16 March, 2008) in Switzerland. They will debut 5 new models: the recently revealed SL, the refreshed SLK, the new CLC, the updated CLS and also a 4MATIC version of the CL 500 Coupe. This 4MATIC system is the lightest ever created weighing in at just 70 kg allowing the CL 500 a 0-100km/h in 5.4 sec.

The Mixed Tapes project from Mercedes Benz has proven to be very successful ever since it launched in 2004, as more than 2,5 million users around the world have downloaded over 28 million songs so far. It is become a popular place to download free music from some very talented artists that have not yet been commercialized. Mercedes-Benz is keeping the popular download compilations and broadening its scope to include a monthly music show on Mercedes-Benz TV www.mercedes-benz.tv. The half-hour Mixed Tape Music Magazine features videos, album reviews and profiles of newcomers and established artists – with a different theme for every show. The first Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape Music Magazine airs on 28 February 2008 and puts the spotlight on “modern vintage”.

In 1886, quite independently of each other, two inventions hit the road: in Mannheim the Benz Patent Motor Car – a vehicle designed from scratch – and in Stuttgart Daimler’s Motorized Carriage – as its name implies, a carriage powered by an engine. Both vehicles were lacking a decisive feature, however: a steering system matched to the vehicle and capable of coping with the prevailing conditions and speeds. These two great pioneers not only enabled mobility to people, but also set the standard for vehicles and their parts.

Daimler AG is reporting that they will be adding a fifth Maybach model to its line-up – the Maybach Landaulet. This masterpiece of automotive engineering will not just shower its owner with luxury, such as smooth black leather and trim elements in glossy piano lacquer, but it will also cost EUR 900,000 (or US$ 1.35 million). The first customer vehicles are due to leave Maybach production in autumn 2008.
Mercedes-Benz Motorsport announced today, that Ralf Schumacher (32), after 11 years in the Formula 1 World Championship, will race this year with the Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class in the DTM, Ralf Schumacher’s DTM debut will take place at the season opener in Hockenheim on 13th April 2008.
Ralf Schumacher tested the AMG Mercedes C-Class during four and a half test days in Estoril, Portugal for about 490 laps; which was more than 2,000 kilometres or approximately 12 DTM race distances. It was his first outing with an AMG Mercedes since 20th July 1997 when he was a guest driver in a race of the FIA GT Championship in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium with an AMG Mercedes CLK-GTR. This was also Schumacher’s last opportunity to drive a race car with a roof.
