Edmunds reviews the CL 550

07mbcl550act3500 Edmunds reviews the CL 550
Edmunds has taken the time and reviewed the new CL550, and has nothing but positive things to say about the gorgeous CL. While it was hard for Mercedes to out do themselves with the new model, they actually did it, and the CL and the many positive reviews are the proof. Here is a great quote that sums the review up.

Most of our time in the CL was spent on roads that rarely complemented its size or intent, yet we still had a hard time finding anything wrong with the big coupe. It looks better, goes faster and feels more comfortable than its nearly perfect predecessor. There’s too much weight on board to throw around quickly, but if you want light buy a Lotus. If you want a luxurious, quiet and fast GT, the CL550 is as good as any car on the road. And thanks to Mr. Hutzenlaub, it looks good doing it.

Mercedes-Benz to offer more SIRIUS Satellite Radio

logthumbnail11 Mercedes Benz to offer more SIRIUS Satellite Radio
Mercedes Benz and SIRIUS Satellite Radi today announced that Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) plans to significantly increase the rate at which they install SIRIUS radios in Mercedes-Benz vehicles to more than 80 percent for 2007, with plans to continue building to 90 percent for 2008 and over 90 percent by 2009. The growth in the installation rate far exceeds earlier estimates of 50 percent that were set less than two years ago.

The luxury automaker also plans to offer SIRIUS as standard equipment on two additional models this year the S-Class and CLS. The new models will become available with SIRIUS at dealerships later this year. SIRIUS is currently standard in Mercedes-Benz’s SL-Class and CL-Class model vehicles, and all AMG and 600 model vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz CLK Sport Edition

We just got the CLK Black Series from Mercedes, and now we are getting another CLK version, this time it is the Sports Edition. While it doesn’t look like the AMG Black Series with it wide fenders and “evil” looking body kit, we do get some nice things with the SE, such as 18-inch light-alloy wheels with an exclusive design, bi-xenon headlamps, AMG styling. The interior includes AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel, aluminium-look sports pedals and special velour floor mats. Another great thing is the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission, which is the world’s only car transmission of this kind. Its seven gears can be shifted either automatically, via a manual shift programme or by means of steering wheel shift paddles as in the motor racing world. Mercedes claims that the 7G-TRONIC Sport reduces gearshift times by up to 30 percent. The cost of this Sport Edition package is about $4,513 (3,332 Euro). Another product release, another success.

Mercedes DTM car is very HOT

This is an incredible video of a burning Mercedes DTM car filmed during the race last Sunday. Bruno Spenglers drove the car during the promo rounds; the numerous donuts that both the Mercedes and the Audi did were incredibly, but that was also the cause. This was certainly a great spectacle for the crowed seeing a brand new DTM car go up in flames.

BLUETEC hybrid M-Class coming soon!

mclass timessq2.thumbnail BLUETEC hybrid M Class coming soon!
Here is some great news for the diesel lovers, but also for the tree huggers hybrid lovers. Just-Auto (via Autoblog) is reporting that Mercedes may have a BLUETEC diesel-electric hybrid M-Class available in two years. This of course is all speculation but they are also reporting the it would have 3.2l six-cylinder BLUETEC engine and a fuel economy with around 48mpg (from 40 UK imperial gallons into US gallons)

This would certainly be great news as no company has yet created a diesel-hybrid vehicle. As gas prices rise, an SUV that can get 48 mpg and lower emissions at the same time, would be welcomed by many of the SUV lovers.
