Girls named Mercedes are very rare these days, although, you may still find some in Latin America. A guy from Romania named Dumitru Caldara, has given a twist to the good-old Mercedes name. He didn’t want to name his girl Mercedes, nooo, he named her SLK; yes you are reading it right, he named his little daughter S – L – K. This is probably the work of a Gypsy, who make up a big part of the Romanian population.
While we did have our fair share of weird names in the Hollywood world (Nicolas Cage naming his son Kal-el and Gwyneth Paltrow naming her daughter Apple), this one definitely tops the list.

the person who wrote this should find out some facts about gypsies in romania, mainly that they represent about 1-2 % of the population…to me that’s not “a big part of romanian population”,as the article reads! it’s as if you’d say the arabs in USA make a big part of the american population, just because they’re in big numbers in deerborn, michigan…duuh?
Well, I didn’t want to exaggerate the numbers, but according to the United Nation, about 11% of the population are Roma (gypsy). If 2 million people is not a big number, than what is. That is not really the problem, the problem is that the Roma in Romania and in other Balkan countries are very poor and treated harsh by the local population.
you read to much …. the gypsy in Romania are like black people from USA …. they won’t go to school and I think that you don’t have many options if you don’t have a proper education
Dude, I’m from Romania, and the f****** gypsy are about 18-20 % of the population (alot of them said they are romanians in the 2005 census, this is why the UN knows they are 11% ~ 2.3 million)
Funny, but I feel bad for the girl though.
The guy should of named her Mercedes or at least SLR or S-Class

Oh my god …another one who claims Romania is full of gypsy people ! wake up and smell some fresh air my friend … and Gypsy`s a.k.a romm`s not Roma ..or roman or whatever …are a few not 2 milion not 10 milion …they are less and less every year because romanians tend to “send ” them away !
