Most of the 6 or 7 part series about the Top Gear visit to “The Colonies” was amusing but the Clarkson/May/Hampster act is getting a bit stale for me. Their humor consists of the act of propping up a “Straw Man” (Americans and American Culture in this case), so that they can deliver various one liner insults. For a long time, the Brits have been trying to convince us that they’re some kind of superior life form. Americans may not be the smartest “blokes” in the world but this bloke knows when his countrymen and his culture are being ridiculed and I’m a little tired of it. I’m still glad they came, however. If they didn’t get anything else out of their road trip, they learned that history really does repeat itself – it just seems kind of fitting that the Redcoats were driven out by Rednecks.

i don’t honestly know what the problem is. this video was brilliant. getting into a slagging match about football hooligans and rednecks is a bit asinine. people are always harping on about how wonderful diversity is… well this is just another form of diversity isn’t it? (granted albeit a tad more extreme!)

anyways, enjoy it! the BBC is working hard to yank it off the web… a bit silly really when you think about the fact that this is probably one of the best things ever to come out of the boob tube.

BTW, Jeremy legging it and leaving James & Richard was hilarious!

Hi, I’m from California. I’d like to say that these Brits totally rock! For all Europeans and people in the world who have seen this footage, I would like to apologize for the actions of hicks on foreign people who are simply doing their job. And I say foreign people because anyone foreign is susceptible to such manner as you have just seen, especially in the south. : ( From people I’ve known in California so far, we agree in one thing. F**K hicks. Oh yeah, NASCAR sucks ass, it’s all about DTM, JGTC, LeMans,D1 and F1. Soccer is cool, but it’s as hick as the south because it causes riots.

Hmmm, when I was in London a few years ago, we visited the House of Commons in session. The topic of discussion? Football hooligans. Ah, yes, rednecks with an English accent.

Jeff Foxworthy defines “redneck” as someone with “a glorious absence of sophistication.” I doubt that’s limited to Alabama.

Haha! Soccer is what you Americans call what we refer to football. If you drive across England in a painted car that says “soccer sucks” we’d probably laugh at the crazy American that had nothing more creative to write on his car.

I am not so sure that the english would react this way for having “soccer sucks” or â€œsoccer hooligans are gayâ€. They would probably just laugh at you.

I am not saying that the English are angels, they are actually one of the most violant when it comes to hooligans, but trying to hurt someone based on a comment like “Nascar sucks” is just crazy.

That is based on a joke that floated around when Survivor started on TV. To play Texas Survivor, you paint slogans like that on your car and see who gets the farthest across Texas.

All in all though, I suspect you’d get the same reaction if you went to England and painted on a car “soccer sucks” and “soccer hooligans are gay”.
